Cost Optimization and Governance in the AWS Cloud with ATTO Sementes

The Challenge
With a technology-intensive operation and applications developed in-house, ATTO identified limitations in its local infrastructure, especially in availability and redundancy. Faced with the company's growth, it became essential to adopt a more scalable and resilient approach.
After testing different cloud providers, AWS was chosen as the basis for the new architecture. The company migrated its commercial platform - comprising application, front end, API and database - to the cloud. However, the internal team felt the need to rely on a specialized partner to evaluate and optimize this new environment.
The Solution
With CloudDog, ATTO Sementes began a process of technical review and modernization of its cloud infrastructure. The first recommendation was to migrate the São Paulo environment to the Virginia region (USA), which led to a 40% reduction in costs, without affecting performance.
In addition, a clear separation was implemented between the development, homologation and production environments using AWS Control Tower, guaranteeing security, control and cost segregation.
The use of Amazon ECS was modernized with the introduction of AWS Fargate, replacing provisioned instances with serverless solutions, which increased availability. The entire environment is now monitored by Amazon CloudWatch, offering greater visibility of errors and latency.
To support future migrations and upgrades with stability, CloudDog also implemented a pipeline with a Blue/Green deployment strategy, ensuring greater agility and control.
The Architecture
- Amazon ECS
- Amazon RDS
- AWS Fargate
- AWS Control Tower
- Amazon CloudWatch
Results
According to Marco Antonio Moraes, systems development manager at ATTO, the results of the partnership have been significant. “With AWS and CloudDog we no longer have problems with unavailability and overload for the infrastructure team,” he says.
Today, the platform is used by more than 200 users, including the sales team and representatives. After the success of the first migration, the company decided to also move the Protege application, used by customers to record incidents and request replacements.
The cloud architecture brought:
- A 40% reduction in cloud costs;
- A reduction in incidents and application failures;
- Greater availability and stability for the sales team;
- New governance processes and regular meetings with CloudDog to evaluate contracted hours and new projects.
- The modernization journey continues with the expectation of migrating all platforms to AWS, maintaining the strategic partnership with CloudDog.
